Formed in 2012, 'Trifarious' has established a reputation as a forward thinking and innovative ensemble committed to the championing of new music and developing the next generation of young composers. At their disposal are the five sound-worlds of clarinet, saxophone, violin, viola and piano in any combination and recent commissions include works by award-winning composers Edmund Jolliffe and Barbara Thompson MBE (ITV's 'A Touch of Frost'). The trio will be premiering a new work by Stephen Goss at the Guildford International Festival 2019.
Recent concert highlights include performances at the International Festival Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain and The Bilbao Festival, as well as performances throughout the UK. The ensemble's commitment to education has included a recent new collaboration with the Royal Academy of Music presenting composition and performance workshops with students from both the junior and senior departments.
In 2017 Trifarious hosted workshops with the composition students at the University of Surrey, as well as adjudicating their annual composition awards. The trio have been working with Cranleigh's A-Level Composition students this academic year and the results of this collaboration will be performed as part of their programme.
