Charles O’Brien FSA is the Director of Listing and Architectural Investigation at Historic England. From 1997 until 2022 he worked for the Pevsner Architectural Guides series as writer and Series Editor. During that time he wrote or contributed to several of the revised editions of the original guides, culminating with Surrey, published in 2022.

On Friday 7th June, Charles O’Brien FSA will be giving a talk in the Merriman Music School at Cranleigh about the mission of updating Pevsner, the significance of Woodyer in this county in particular (which will include reference to Cranleigh as part of that, being the architect of Cranleigh School) and then the importance of Grafham in his oeuvre.
