After leaving what he considers "the best house in Cranleigh", Jake Chiappini (East 2020) headed north to the University of Leeds, where he studied International Relations. Like most graduates, he then faced the big question: what next?

With only a vague idea of what most "city roles" actually involved, Jake settled on strategy consulting. It sounded respectable, well paid and (relatively) interesting. He soon discovered that plenty of others had reached the same conclusion. It was during this experience, though, that the idea for Lios took shape.

Jake realised that millions of young people go through the same process every year, yet the tools available to them are surprisingly poor. Many established platforms feel as though they were built in the 1990s and have never been properly updated. They are cluttered with sponsored or outdated vacancies and offer little useful insight into either the role or the organisation behind it. Most importantly, they seem to have forgotten the person actually looking for the job.

Lios was created to change that. It is a modern, AI-driven platform built around the candidate. It helps young people understand organisations and industries, and makes it easier to find relevant, authentic, non-sponsored opportunities.

The first full version of Lios is now live (and completely free), conversations are under way with major educational institutions and, most importantly, feedback from the people it was built for has been extremely encouraging.

As Jake puts it, the best way to understand a broken process is to go through it yourself.
