Sam Lenselink (North 2016) is organising a Heroes Half Marathon on London’s Clapham Common on July 4th and would appreciate as much support from the OC community as possible.
“It’s raising money for three great charities: NHS Charities Together, Mind and Hospice UK,” Sam explained. “These charities deserve all the support possible for working so tirelessly in these challenging times. Hospice UK perhaps hasn’t been in the limelight as much as the others, but will always be particularly close to mine and Cranleigh’s heart for the care provided to Jake Andrews. After reading an article about the potential future of hospices after this pandemic, I was motivated to help.
“I initially expected around ten people to join, however the response has been overwhelming. Now, there are over 60 people running and many others supporting.
“OC participation is strong. George Macdonald (East 2016) is playing a big part in the social media strategy. So far, there are runners from five different Cranleigh year groups. We would greatly appreciate further support from the Cranleigh community;
any donations to our fundraising, follows to our
instagram and/or general interest in participating would be absolutely amazing.
“Working with graphic designers, we have also created event tee-shirts. The profits of which will go to the fundraising – roughly £8.50 per tee. I have attached an example, just in case anyone may be interested in these.
“As a young student, my network is probably less than the majority of OC’s. Therefore, though I appreciate it is a large ask, if any OCs would be willing to help in the fundraising/promotional aspects in any way, perhaps by providing advice or being able to supply materials for competitions please.”
The OCs involved so far are: Sam Lenselink, Jake Harvey, Sam Dickson, George Macdonald, Charlie Firth, Ed Russell, Nick Going, Tom Nicole, Sacha Brown, Ollie Pearman, Max Subba Row, Charlie Serjeant, Barney O’Neill, James Thornton Wood, Cameron Montgomerie, Angus Dahl, Marcus Mclean, Ellen Talbot, Jamie Pudge, Charlie Hill, Tom Farrelly, Felicity Bull, Bill Bathurst, Libby Richards.
