Do you remember the excitement of team announcements being pinned to the School noticeboard in the Quad corridor? Whether you’d been cast in a play? If you had been given an award? These School noticeboards, are now standing down from service and, if you would like a bit of Cranleigh memorabilia on your home or office walls, here is your opportunity....
We are offering the noticeboards to OCs in return for you collecting them from Cranleigh School during office hours, and making a small donation to the Cranleigh Foundation. The Foundation is a fund which finances places at Cranleigh for children who have been affected by tragedy and who would benefit from Cranleigh's nurturing environment.
With the advent of online communications, message apps and video notice-screens dotted around the School site, our noticeboards are, alas, no longer used. We shall be replacing the School noticeboards with a permanent exhibition to showcase the great deeds and stories of eminent Old Cranleighans.
There were 23 noticeboards on offer, including the ‘Senior Teams’, ‘Prefects’ and ‘Purvis Society’ noticeboards, as well as some which don’t have labels. Most are 830mm in height but range in width from 505mm to 2000mm. All of them are framed in varnished Iroko (an African hardwood tree), the pinboard is made out of sundeala board and is covered in a blue baize. To see photos of which are still available and their condition, please click on the photos below.
If you would like one of the noticeboards, please get in touch with Mrs Susannah Schofield, Head of Cranleigh Giving.
