The examination for Midsummer began with the French subjects, on Friday, June 28th. The examiner in French was M. Bué, of the University of Paris, while in Mathematics and general subjects it was the Rev. J. Rawson Lumby, MA, late Fellow of Magdalen College, Cambridge.
There were three cricket matches, including home and away against Hurstpierpoint (referred to as St John’s College, Hurst). In the first at Hurst, we lost by 14 runs on the first innings; in the return game at the end of the month we won – the first win of the season – by 54 runs. The final game was very one-sided as the School were heavily defeated by a Rev Jollye XI.
